Absztrakt (kivonat)

After the introduction, the novel coronavirus is going to be explained, what the virus is, to have a better understanding on the subject, then examine its impacts worldwide on the tourism and hospitality industry and the environment. It is important to demonstrate Hungary’s situation before, during and after the virus in terms of tourism. The quantitative secondary research into the subject is going to give a fresh update on the number of guest nights, revenue, turnover, and growth in the first few months after the lifting of restrictions. The model change is going to be shown, that the country had to go through, to keep its tourism alive. Next, the hostel as accommodation type is going to be explained, by listing its characteristics and introducing their primary customer groups. The flashpackers and digital nomads are going to be introduced as quite new sub-cultures, that are in full bloom, as a consequence of COVID-19. The marketing strategies and promotion techniques are going to be presented, as well as several types of hostels, that the reader, may have never heard about. Nevertheless, the legal aspects and requirements of operating a hostel are going to be shown. Afterwards, the research methodology section is going to show the results of the questionnaire and interviews. Lastly, by analyzing the results of the research is going to answer the research questions and finally, give explanation to the hypothesis, aims and objectives. The conclusion, recommendation and last thoughts are going to close the dissertation.
