Absztrakt (kivonat)
The theme of my thesis is Women in Leadership: Barriers and Challenges for Women in the Business World. The primary aim of this project is to examine female leaders and how they manage to succeed in a male-dominated environment. Investigate to have a clear picture about the female leaders, their styles, and what makes them successful, starting with the definitions, conceptual clarification, and progressing to data gathering to prove it. As a young lady, I consider it particularly important to have a deeper knowledge of the subject. I believe that younger women need role models and mentors to meet more successful women in the future. As the world aspires to achieve sustainable and inclusive global growth goals, business recognizes the need of closing the gender gap in labor force participation as a primary concern, not just for economic but also for social reasons. Meanwhile, more females are in positions of power in our culture, the focus has moved from whether or not women can lead to how effectively they can lead. The male-dominated leadership environment persists, which might contribute to gender prejudices among female leaders and prevent females from rising to positions of power. Men obviously dominate leadership, while women have certain benefits and disadvantages, as well as bias and distinct leadership styles. In my thesis, I intend to present an overall investigation concerning the most important aspects of the problems related to gender inequalities. What is even more, I also would like to offer certain suggestions and considerations which could possibly bring us closer to the solution of the current rather prejudiced situation, and thus could help us to create a better and fairer social environment. It is important that women feel equal, both in a social and a working environment. "Ending gender inequity is a challenge that involves us all. We may not be to blame for the problem, but we are all responsible for the solution." - Janet Crawford.
