Absztrakt (kivonat)
Global financial crisis in 2008-2009 shook the world economy much less than the COVID-19 did. Millions of jobs were lost, global supply chains disrupted, demand for non-essential products had fallen, for essential ones there were supply shortages in the beginning of pandemic, lower consumers` expenditures and higher states` debts. And it is just small part of the consequences of pandemic that world economy has to mitigate and recover after. In this paper the impact of COVID-19 on SMEs in Ukraine is researched. I focused on SMEs as they are backbone of all economies and on Ukraine as it has very big potential, but not a very favorable business environment according to the Ease of Doing Business Index. Primary research was made. Both experts of associations and owners of the businesses shared their unique experience that they gained during these almost two years of struggle. Without doubts they suffered huge financial losses and it was not the period of prosperity, but to some extent it even helped them to grow, to improve. What is important, is that all three companies managed to stay afloat during this pandemic, did not sack anybody and did not take any loans. It actually shows how strong Ukrainian entrepreneurs are. Key expressions: Ukraine, SMEs, COVID-19, impact.
