Absztrakt (kivonat)
Transcarpathia is known for its unspoiled ecology, a land of forests, gardens and vineyards, a land of picturesque Carpathian mountains and valleys rich in healing mineral springs, and it is all embraced by a rich historical heritage. After the Soviet Union collapsed, Ukraine has suffered many problems, underwent political and economic crises, which had affected Transcarpathia, especially in the field of tourism. This led to the issue, that international tourism is barely represented in Transcarpathia. The insufficiency of previously conducted researches makes it difficult to establish why tourism is declining in Transcarpathia and does not have a dominant place in the Transcarpathian economy. For its development, especially with the European countries, the most rational choice is to focus on the Hungarian market first. Transcarpathia has the tightest relationships with Hungary among all other countries due to historical, cultural, social and economic ties. In recent years, with the help of Hungarian initiatives numerous cross-border and investment projects were implemented in Transcarpathia and they have a direct or indirect impact on the improvement of the tourism industry in the region. Tourism based on the Hungarian cultural heritage of Transcarpathia is the most favourable way to develop Transcarpathian tourism on the Hungarian market and it is reflected in tours provided by Hungarian travel agencies. My research aimed to establish relevant suggestions on how to increase Hungarian tourist arrival to Transcarpathia by analysing Hungarian tourists' profile, their knowledge and satisfaction of Transcarpathia, problems they faced with relation to the demand. It was achieved by situation analysis of the region as well as usage of mixed methodology, which included both quantitative and qualitative data. These methods were interviews with Hungarian travel agencies, who operate trips to Transcarpathia and questionnaires among Hungarians, who are the target groups of the research. Understanding previous experiences of the visitors and actors involved in the cultural heritage tourism between Hungary and Transcarpathia assisted in providing rational suggestions for the development. Unfortunately, currently, there are no very strong prospects and chances of the boom in the short run are very small, due to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), border limitations plus safety issues for the Hungarians. However, following the recommendations which are provided in the study will help to increase tourist flow from Hungary to Transcarpathia in the long run.
