The second-hand apparel market is one of the growing markets, which gives a new purpose and value to discarded clothing that otherwise would end up in landfills. The market provides job opportunities to thousands of people and generates millions of dollars profits to many enterprises, big and small. For instance, it is estimated that the resale market may reach 64 billion dollars in 2024 (ThredUP, 2020). Several studies of consumer behavior of this market are available in countries like the United States, Europe, for example. However, far too little attention has been paid to second-hand clothing consumption in Southeast Asia Countries. Particularly, the researcher’s homeland, Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR. Therefore, this applied empirical research seeks to expand the knowledge on the topic.The quantitative strategy is applied in this research. The sample population includes residents of Vientiane Capital from all walks of life, regardless of gender and ethnic background. Surveys are used to collect primary data. A soft copy of survey questionnaires is distributed through the researcher’s social media platforms. The question format contains multiple-choice for categorical and quantitative variables together with some open-ended questions. The investigation aims to answer the following questions: - What is the consumers’ attitude towards the second-hand apparel market in Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR? - What motivational factors play a key role in second-hand apparel shopping? - What is the second-hand clothing shopping behavior of the consumers in Vientiane Capital like?
