The 21st century is a period of rapid growth, globalization, and widespread trade. At the same time, it is a time when environmental protection is becoming increasingly important to society, businesses and government. Nowadays, logistics is an integral part of every company, but unfortunately, it negatively impacts the environment in a lot of different ways. For instance, transportation causes air pollution and noise disturbance and releases greenhouse gases etc. Certainly, it influences our environment and humanity. In my opinion, green logistics plays an essential role in our modern world, and that is why enterprises should pay more attention to improvement of problems caused by their logistics activities. The goal of a green logistics system is to reduce environmental impact for long-term performance and also to improve profitability. It considers such aspects as: economics, the environment and social area. Unfortunately, it is not easy to meet both economic and environmental goals. Environmental issues have become a major concern all over the world. Government and businesses are extremely interested in implementation of environmentally friendly and responsible operations. In my thesis work, I would like to focus on problems caused by logistics processes and operations, as it has a huge negative impact on our environment. In order to reduce the negative influence, companies apply green logistics activities. In my understanding, this is an important topic nowadays, which should not be ignored. I will introduce main logistics activities and problems which it causes. I will analyse green logistics operations in general and in Ukraine. After my research, I will be able to describe one Ukrainian company in food industry and conditions in which this organisation practice green logistics. In the end of my work, I will try to give an answer to the main question: how companies can reduce their negative impact and be more environmentally responsible. As I have mentioned previously, logistics plays a significant role in the current world. Thus, I hope that we can achieve success in solving problems caused by logistics in the nearest future and reach better performance in this sphere. I believe that our modern world is able to deal with such challenges.
