Absztrakt (kivonat)

After the Cold War, to serve the domestic economic reform and to adapt to the new international situation, the Republic of India government implemented the "Look East Policy" in 1991 till the current time. LEP is a strategic policy for the Asia-Pacific region and the world to enhance India's position in all aspects, especially its political status. Northeast Asia is a strategically important region in Asia along with the healthy development of major countries such as China, Japan, and South Korea had become the focus of the LEP of India when this policy began to enter the second phase. The 21st century is a milestone marking the success of the "Look East Policy" of the Republic of India in the geographic, political, and military position with the contribution of their neighbor countries in the South East of India, which are the People Republic of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. This thesis will analyze Northeast Asia's position and role in India's "Look East" foreign policy in the early twenty-first century. At the same time, this thesis will give some forecasts about the prospects and challenges of Northeast Asia's position when India's Government the "Look East" policy was changed to "Act East." With changes in foreign policy, India is emerging to match the world's context, undergoing an unprecedented transition. With the intended for the national good, pragmatic for national development, and active in diplomacy, these terms accurately characterize India's foreign policy in the twenty-first century. Strengthening India's foreign policy is to make the bigger goal of changing the lives of more than 1.3 billion people and pushing it to become a leading world in multipolar power (Chand, 2020). Since this thesis is centered on Northeast Asia, Japan plays a critical role in India's "Act East" policy. The sudden power transfer event with Japan's prime minister in September 2020 also affected the thesis's direction. Until November 2020, the new Prime Minister of Japan has not yet made a decision. It is clear how the political future of both Sino-India countries and how the balance of power will change in international politics will be some change in the "Act East" Policy if the leader of Japan no longer pursues the diplomacy of its predecessor, Shinzo Abe. Although there are still many problems that cannot be fully resolved, and the Covid-19 pandemic is even overshadowing, contributing significantly to the economy and all aspects of all four countries' foreign policies. Asia's leading economies have implemented large-scale monetary and fiscal stimulus measures to reduce the economic shock of the Covid-19 epidemic. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for the Indian government to confirm the development of AEP and the new form of diplomacy between countries in general, and the change in nations' rulership. Keywords: Look East Policy, Act East Policy Republic of India, and Northeast Asia.
