Trade policies of the countries are among the key tools of the governments to plan and the regulate economy. Several different points are considered in the development process of these policies, such as economic factors, political factors and business-related factors. Therefore, there are quite a lot of differences between the trade policies of different countries. The policies and agreements concerning oil trade in the nation affect the accurate implementation of the liberalization policy in oil-rich countries. Other than liberalization, another prominent trend of trade in oil-rich countries is the protectionist trade regime which adds certain trade barriers and restrictions to confine trade from foreign trade that would enhance the competition in selected oil rich countries. Both Azerbaijan and the UAE are known as oil-rich countries, and more or less, the economies of both of these countries suffered from dependency on the oil revenue over the years. The UAE has achieved to develop a preferable economic and business situation to boost the economic growth of the country. Similarly, the government of Azerbaijan tries to apply suitable trade policies to improve the competitiveness of the country in the non-oil sector. Oil trade has been extremely favorable for the Middle East and other mineral-rich nations, however, total dependency has also affected the country's economy in periods of recession and global slowdown.
