Abstract
Gender inequality in Yemen is a controversial topic, as Yemen is one of the most conservative societies. Parents tend to put more effort and even spend more money and time educating their boys rather than girls. This paper has examined the impact of gender inequality in Yemen and its roots. In this paper, A Survey has been conducted to introduce the current situation and analyze the sources of the phenomena. Furthermore, in addition to statistical analysis, a macroeconomic model based on the Solow growth model was applied to analyze the economic impact of gender inequality on Yemen. Evidence indicated that an increase in the number of the labor force and the level of education will have a positive impact on economic growth. Keywords: Gender; Economic growth; inequality; education; labor force; productivity.
