Nowadays, the importance of sustainability plays an important role. Arranging different events have a huge environmentally impact on the world. In order to minimize the ecological footprint of events, especially weddings, several changes need to be made. The aim of this study is to determine what a green wedding is and what alternatives can be applied to reduce the weddings’ waste management. Moreover, there is a financial comparison of a traditional and a green wedding to figure out which celebration costs more. The interest for green wedding is also examined with the help of a questionnaire and interview. To test the hypothesis of the dissertation different methods were applied. A research was done with the purpose of determining the importance of sustainability in the event management and the alternatives which can be used to have a green one. The participants of the survey were asked about their opinion about sustainability and how they are receptive to organize a green wedding. Green wedding planner was asked about her opinion and experiences regarding to this topic. The results of the research were in accordance with the hypothesis. Events are very environmentally responsible. The expenses of organizing a green wedding are more moderate than a traditional one. The willingness of planning an eco-friendly wedding is becoming more and more popular. The outcomes suggest that the new wedding trend is gaining popularity and people are starting to apply more eco-friendly choices to decrease the depletion of natural resources. Local business need to be supported to encourage people to choose them. Furthermore, more green possibilities need to be made accessible and affordable.
