Absztrakt (kivonat)

The end of the XX century is the period of transition economies. Developed countries from the industrial society to post-industrial society; developing countries from agriculture to industry; Former Soviet countries are moving from a planned economy to market economy. However, each country has its characteristics and transition methods. This study examines the development process of the former soviet country of the Azerbaijani economy from the disintegration of the Soviet Union to the period 1991 - 2014. My study consists of three parts except for the Introduction and Conclusion sections. In the first part of the thesis, the factors that describe the development of Azerbaijan economy will be examined. The disintegration of the Soviets had a huge impact on the country's socio-economic indicators. The transition from the old and inefficient economic system to a fully balanced market economy was one of the main problem of the former Soviet countries. I will examine the economic development of Azerbaijan as 3 periods: 1991-1995 - the period of decline and chaos, 1996-2003 - macroeconomic stability situation, 2003-2014 - new development process.  This thesis will cover the economic period of Azerbaijan from 1991 to 2014. The economy of the country faced with a financial crisis according to low oil prices in 2015. Thus, a lot of policies have been changed during recent years. The last five years’ data much more complicated and research may not be as tight as previous periods. Moreover, the provided data for recent years is not trustworthy and reliable.
