The viability and sustainability of certain political regimes other than liberal democracy in the twenty-first century has always been a challenging question. The economic success China and Singapore could achieve without appealing to liberal democracy has always been a worrying-some question in literature. The sustainability of those political systems with their single dominant party in case of China with its Chines Communist Party as an authoritarian regime and Singapore as a flawed democracy with the People’s Action Party has been an important area for research in social science. This paper analyzes the reasons of the viability and sustainability of these two political regimes and draws a comparison between them. For that reason, the researcher studied each political system separately and gave a comprehensive look for each party to understand its ideology, structure, the instruments and strategies that each party uses to remain in power, and then a comparison is made between the two parties to see the similarities and differences between them and interpreted the reasons behind such similarities or differences. The researcher found that the reasons for such viability and sustainability for them in the twenty first century lie on a group of instruments and strategies that are used and implemented by them. Some of these instruments and strategies created or used by each party are common while others are unique The researcher concluded that the economic growth that could achieve, the institutionalized succession of the party, the state-owned media, the capability to adapt and make reforms, the personal leader’s perspective, and Confucianism were common instruments that ensure domination and public support for the parties. The researcher also concluded that there are other unique and special instruments that each adopts to serve its domination. While for the Chines Communist Party, the party’s structure and its dual system of governing, its ideology, the rule by law, and the political reforms represented by limited democratization, and decentralization are special instruments used to ensure the sustainability of its authoritarian style. As for the People’s Action Party, the party’s ideology, the electoral system and resources, depoliticization, the efficient and clean government, and the “Valence Politics” are legal special instruments created by the PAP to ensure its domination. This study suggested that most likely their viability and sustainability can be sustained with such instruments and strategies. Moreover, the implication of their viability and sustainability is crucial in the sense that there is the possibility that more regimes are to follow the same track, look at them as model and focus on economic development rather than political and civil liberties.
