Abstract

This paper presents evidence that cultural factors matters for economic development, using cultural indicators from the Hofstede’s Cultural Dimension and The Lewis Model for a sample of 75 and 67 countries correspondingly. Empirically, I find that countries with individualistic societies who are oriented on long term, have low power distance and have linear active cultural type have high level of economic development and pursue well-being. Furthermore, I discuss how these cultural factors are creating sustainable economic system.
